If you have a young baseball player that is brand new to the position of catcher, then this Wilson A500 is a great model of mitt to consider having him use!

Mitt Benefits

This mitt is going to present a trifecta of awesomeness for youth catchers. It is going to be (1) soft (2) lightweight and (3) provide extra palm protection. It is crafted with Wilson's Top Grain leather which is going to provide a very easy break-in for young catchers. One of the toughest chores to tackle for young baseball players and their parents is a difficult break-in process. This leather should be nearly ready for game use when you get it and only a short bit of catch should be required to get it perfect for your player. In addition, the Top Grain leather won't weigh much at all and it will make the mitt easy for young catchers to hold up to their chests as they are awaiting the pitcher to deliver a pitch. Finally, Wilson has also crafted this mitt with a Double Palm construction that inserts a thin piece of padding into the palm section of the mitt. In the situation where the baseball is received in the palm of the mitt and not the pocket, this extra piece of padding should provide that bit of protection that is needed to keep the mitt hand healthy!
