Hard maple is known for its strenght and is a lot harder than other kinds of wood. This makes hard maple ideal for professional baseball bats. Hard maple is also available in different grades of quality. SSK Prime maple is made from the highest grade hard maple available. This way you know when you buy a SSK Prime Maple bat you are using the best quality hard maple there is. Different model specifications: NEW MODEL! JB9: This is the official model Javier Baez uses. With its narrow handle and its long taper and large barrel it is the perfect model that fits in between the more top loaded models such as the RC22 and the more balaced models such as the 271. Handle: Thin (0.95" est.) Barrel: Average (2.53" est.) Weight: Balanced/Top Loaded 271: The 271 is the most balanced and lightest model on the market. With its thinner handle and barrel this bat is well rounded and easy to use. This model is perfect for people who are looking for a good all-round bat or are new to wooden bats. Handle: Thin (0.96" est.) Barrel: Average (2.45" est.) Weight: Balanced C243: The C243 has a thin handle with a thicker barrel. This way the bat isn’t too heavy while it has a thick barrel. Because of these attributes the C243 is a lot more top loaded than the 271.
